The Highlights of South Australia birding tour provides an insight into the range of habitats present here. Some unique bird species including a small number of endemics can be found here. From the dry red interior to the lush and green Mt Lofty Ranges; wetlands and coasts around Adelaide and estuaries in the Coorong, floodplains along the Murray River, vast expanses of the famous semi-arid mallee, and outback deserts with spectacular mountain ranges, this tour has it all. Over recent years an increasing number of Australian and international visitors have discovered the birding secrets SA has to offer. From the woodlands of the Adelaide Hills the tour travels along the Murray River with its wetlands and spectacular cliffs up to Birdlife Australia's Gluepot Reserve in the vast expanses of Mallee eucalypt scrubland north of the Murray. Further north we explore the rugged mountaineous landscape of the Flinders Ranges and spend a day in the outback desert around Lyndhurst. Returning to Adelaide, we bird our way south along some bird-rich coastal areas.
